Poppy seeds are blue or black oilseeds and are used throughout the world in cooking, in some types of bread and pastries. Characterized by a nutty flavor, they are consumed like sesame seeds and flax seeds.
Poppy seeds are rich in minerals therefore regular consumption contributes to the proper functioning of the cardiovascular and immune systems. They also contain manganese, copper and zinc. They are an excellent source of fatty acids, including Omega-3 and Omega-2. Poppy seeds can help to fight some digestive conditions, asthma and coughing.
